Pembroke Stud is located just 10 minutes from Wanaka in Central Otago, South Island, New Zealand. The stud's name comes from the original name for the area now known as Wanaka. The name was only changed from Pembroke to Wanaka in 1940.
Wanaka is located right at the heart of the southern lakes, is the gateway to the Mt. Aspiring National Park, internationally renowned for its glaciers and magnificent tramping and climbing. The mountains surrounding the lake provide a winter snow lovers paradise featuring top ski fields and heliski facilities and the town itself features a pretty shopping village with a wide variety of ambient areas to relax, eat and imbibe... www.lakewanaka.co.nz

The Upper Clutha A&P Show (known as the Wanaka Show) is one of Wanaka's major annual events and is supported by the whole community and indeed enjoyed by all competitors, spectators and trade exhibitors. Set on the beautiful shores of Lake Wanaka it must be one of the most stunning settings for any A & P Show. The Upper Clutha A & P Show is the second largest agricultural and pastoral show in the South Island. It is traditionally held around the second weekend in March and is one of the last shows of the year. |

Pembroke Stud is located only a short distance from the end of the Wanaka Airport runway. Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is held at Wanaka Airport and is one of the largest warbird airshows in the southern hemisphere. Warbirds was started by Sir Tim Wallis in 1988, and has grown to the point that almost 100,000 people attend the biennial event over Easter weekend. For this reason we have named all of our horses after the famous aircraft that fly over the stud. |
